Is there a sci fi series or movie that doesn't have fire in space?

This is such a refreshing video among a bunch of brain dead 'WOKE BAD WOKE BAD' and 'YOU'RE A BIGOT EVERYONE IS A BIGOT' crowd, I miss genuine media criticism

Ive read a lot of moon knight abd still enjoyed the hell out of this show. I actually bought the 4k dvd collection. Its a fresh take on the character and mixes just the right amount of creepy, supernatural, mystery and action...my sole complaint is that there wasnt more moon knight in costume

If they wanted a fire scene why couldn’t they just have the repairs take place *IN* the ship? Also I think it’s mostly the fact that in live action it just looks out of place, especially with the campfire crackling noises. When we’ve seen fire in space before it’s been mostly explosions, or when a ship is damaged during or directly after a battle, it’s usually not the main focus of the scene. Imo even a slight change in sound effects and the way the fire burned could’ve made it less immersion-braking, but that’s pretty nitpicky. The biggest problem I have with this show is the force-conception thing. I feel like it just makes Anakin’s birth and Plagueis’ achievements seem less special.

I like how this whole video addresses the pedantic response to a scientific impossibility in a fantasy by connecting to cinematic language, borrowing of the same, etc, but never addresses that the story and the franchise on the whole being so unappealing that that's something anyone would even focus on. Star Wars is for children, but it should still be engaging on the level of character dynamics, as that's what made the whole thing work from the start. That, or just let the whole thing die and encourage new and good stories, something this generation needs sorely.

I mean Seasons 1-3 were fantastic. It was the later seasons when they "dumbed down" the show. I'm glad they added female scientists though, Amy's first episode is great but they ended up going in a different direction for her character.

Maybe the fire means that Star Wars is and always was kind of dumb and childish and that we should finally grow out of it?

As a Star Wars fan this kind of stuff makes me kind of want to start gatekeeping who is or is not a fan, not to keep out new fans but to tell all the racist, sexist, and homophobic assholes who nine times out of ten don't even watch Star Wars properties to get the fuck out because I'm sick and tired of seeing them dirty the reputation of Star Wars fans and ruin every space they worm their way into.

Comparing Cassian to Han Solo, what I don't like about Han's character arc is that he goes from someone who cares only about himself to caring only about his friends--and mainly just Luke. He comes back to save Luke, and this is consistent with Empire, in which he desperately wants to leave Hoth and the Rebellion, but goes on a suicide mission to save Luke, which delays him until the Imperials show up....and then in Jedi he's "General Solo" and committed to the Rebellion, and I hate it. One of the few bits of smart writing in TFA was how Han and Leia had been split up for ages. Of course they would! There's no way those two could survive a long-term married-with-kids relationship! It would have been nice, though, if they had broken up because Leia wanted to run off and fight another rebellion while Han was all "All I care about is us and our family!" instead of breaking up over Kylo. Breaking up because Kylo turned evil was also good writing, because this was the Star Wars equivalent of losing a child (which often leads to the parents breaking up), but...yunno, they coulda done what *I* wanted.

An interesting case study in your third point about the Star Wars criticism to racism pipeline is what happened with Davis, one of the hosts of the Star Wars New Canon Book Club podcast. After he was really disappointed by The Last Jedi, he started looking for reasons to explain why he hated it. He briefly found himself in that radicalized space where diversity was one of the movie's flaws. Fortunately, he had friends on and off the show who pointed out what was happening, and he was able to introspect.

I only started watching Community during lockdown. I had no idea of its background but remember googling 'What 's up with Community season 4'? after watching the first few episodes. Sure some of the gags work but it's terribly laboured.

I find it kinda sad that these people can't just sit down and even TRY to enjoy a movie or a show. I can't even imagine being in this prepetual state of searching for minorities in media to be afraid off. Idk this is all very sad. And also very American. I have always maintained the Helen is Andi who faked her death to get to Miles. She lures him out and is not smart enough to realize he is being setup. What better way to get Miles than to frame him for murder.

Remove the fire in space and the gender politics, then watch the show again. It's still terrible. P.S. The telegraphing of Qimir as the secret Sith training May is as awful as it is obvious.

The biggest problem with this show is the writing is just poor. Trying to make out this must somehow be a good show because some randoms have said stuff on the Internet that's negative, is as dumb as what they're saying. This video is the same as those other people's, it's just demanding you must like it instead of demanding you hate it.

The argument that 'nothing has to make sense coz it's sci-fi' undermines everything and allows complete nonsense to be considered 'fine' and that the audience should just watch any old crap and accept it.

An explosion in space which obliterates a ship and vanishes is not the same as a fire burning like you've got some marshmallows on sticks to cook.
